This trek follows the same trail as in Jhomolhari Trek – I till the base camp. Then, make loop turning east to Tshophu lakes across Bonthoe La Pass (4800m) to Yaktsha villages, further to Thongbu valley and join at Shana.
This trek is the best alternative route to Jhomolhari Trek – I during the months of June/July/August, as the trail from Shodu to Barshong/Dodina, Thimphu is awful and can really spoil the trek during monsoon. Herds of blue sheep, yaks and many flowers can be seen along this trail, and in fact this is the best trek to see the “Blue Poppy”.
Best season : End of March – mid June and end of September – November
Drive to Thimphu and visit Tashichhodzong and few other places.Alt. 2300 meters.

A short 200 meters climb to a crest, then steep descent along the ridge all way to the helipad at Gunyitsawa and join the main trail you took on the first day of this trek. Camp above the wheat field at Chu-Yul. Alt. 2650m.
